I'm well into my 23rd day as a non-smoker now and I think it's getting easier. Not that it has been too difficult anyway, but I think that it might be true about it taking 21 days to break a habit because smoking is no longer a habit for me - I no longer routinely reach for a cigarette first thing in the morning, or after a meal, or for that matter at any other time during the day.
There are times when I do fancy a smoke though, for example; I was at the pub on Saturday night and it would have been easy to light up a cigarette because that's what I always did in the past and the 'urge' was there. However, I was able to resist without too much difficulty.
I will be going to the quit smoking clinic on Thursday and I'll get my new NRT prescription, so it will be interesting to see if there are any increased cravings when I am on the lower dose nicotine patches at the weekend. Watch this space...
