A Non-Smoker For 3 Days!

This is my 3rd day as a non-smoker!

I almost hate to admit it, but so far it has been quite easy. The full strength nicotine patches are probably helping in that respect, even though they are giving me very vivid dreams and a disturbed night's sleep (a fairly common side effect apparently). I know it is early days, but I really feel quite confident that smoking cigarettes is now a thing of the past, and I can look forward to a healthier, fitter future. So I can tolerate a few strange dreams if in the long run the result is that I am a non-smoker.

It's a strange thing, but actual cravings for a smoke have been quite few. Instead, I've had moments throughout each day where I felt as though something was missing and I couldn't quite work out what it was - of course, it gradually dawns that the thing missing is a cigarette, and that's when I try to do something else to occupy myself. I hope that I have convinced my sub-conscious mind that smoking is now unacceptable.

I realise now just how much time I was wasting during a typical day by smoking. Procrastination was my middle name, and it was common for me to utter the phrase; "I'll just have a fag", before doing something. I've also noticed that a great deal of my cigarettes were smoked just to help pass the time when I was feeling a little bored. Well no more! I will NOT be a slave to cigarettes...
