Here's To The Future!

So much time has passed, and so much has changed in my life since quitting smoking. In fact, I find it difficult now to understand the mindset I had when I titled this blog "Help Me Quit Smoking" - as if I needed any help when everything I ever needed was all inside of me!

Actually, that is a bit of a distorted view of things because we all need help from experts from time to time and I am very grateful for the help I received from the quit smoking clinic and especially the NRT patches I got on prescription - they definitely got me through the first month or so.

But I am in such a positive frame of mind at the moment. For starters I am about to leave behind a job I held for 21 years and make formal a business venture I have been toying with for a while - scary or what? Yes, it is a little 'scary' and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit anxious about everything. But it is so very exciting too! I feel positively elated and more optimistic than at any time I can remember (don't you dare try and bring me back down to earth!).

But what has that to do with giving up smoking? Well, that depends on your outlook, and whether you smoke or not, but I feel that quitting smoking was one of the definitive decisions that marked the point when I truly took control of my own destiny.

Sometimes in life we have to make decisions. Well, giving up smoking is one that nobody will ever regret, you can trust me on that one.
